About Patrick Larkin

When I was nine years old, I caught the writing bug. My fourth-grade teacher read one of my stories — full of archers, knights, ambushes, and thundering cavalry charges — to the whole class. That moment sealed my fate.

I’ve been fascinated by history and military history my entire life. After graduating from the University of Chicago with a degree in English, I worked in Washington, D.C. as a researcher and later as a political and corporate speechwriter. Along the way, I also contributed to role-playing games and helped develop background material for the Battletech universe.

In 1987, I began collaborating with Larry Bond. Our first novel, Red Phoenix, became a New York Times bestseller in 1989. We went on to write four more books together: Vortex, Cauldron, The Enemy Within, and Day of Wrath.

Since then, I’ve co-authored numerous high-stakes thrillers with Dale Brown, including the Nick Flynn series and the final five books in the Patrick McLanahan series. I’ve also written two entries in Robert Ludlum’s Covert-One series.

My solo novel, The Tribune, is a historical mystery set in ancient Rome. I’m currently developing a new original modern military thriller (revolving around the theft of an armed U.S. Navy autonomous underwater vessel) and continuing work on The Last Prince, my ongoing cinematic alternate-history visual novel.

I live in Central Texas with my wife. When I’m not writing, I enjoy reading, history, and spending time with family.

Thank you for visiting my site. I hope you enjoy exploring my stories — whether the intense action of my thrillers or the unfolding epic of The Last Prince.
